May is Mental Health Awareness Month — a time to pause, reflect, and show support to those around us who might be finding life tough right now. At Kindness in Bucks, we believe in the power of community to lift each other up. Whether it’s a kind word, a shared cup of tea, or practical support, we all have the ability to make someone’s day a little brighter.
Here’s how we can support members of our community this May:

For Men Struggling with Loneliness or Mental Health
Cameron’s Companions is a brilliant local charity providing free access to private counselling or appropriate therapies for men and boys in England and Wales, minimising waiting lists and times for those in need. Their mission is to remind men that they’re not alone. It’s okay to not be okay — and it’s more than okay to reach out.
Know a man who might benefit from this? Encourage them to check out Cameron’s Companions

For Pregnant Women or New Mums
Motherhood is a beautiful journey, but it can also feel overwhelming — especially in the early days. If you’re pregnant or recently had a baby and feeling low, anxious, or isolated, there is support available.
We highly recommend checking out the resources shared by Bucks Maternity and Neonatal Voices, which include a range of mental health services in Bucks dedicated to supporting women through this life-changing transition.

For the Elderly
Our older residents are treasured members of our community, yet many face loneliness or mental health struggles in silence. That’s where Age UK Bucks comes in.
They offer friendship services, advice lines, home support, and community activities designed to keep our elderly neighbours connected and cared for. If you know someone older who might need a little more support, Age UK Bucks is just a call away.

For Young People
Being a teenager or young adult today comes with unique pressures. Youth Concern is an incredible local charity providing free, confidential support for anyone aged 13–25 who is struggling. From mental health help and counselling to emergency housing and drop-in services, they are a safe space for youth navigating tough times.
Please share their page with any young person in your life who might benefit from knowing help is available.

Free Haircuts for a Confidence Boost
We’re thrilled to be running a special collaboration with Haringtons Hair on Instagram this month — offering free haircuts to anyone who needs a boost in confidence and mood. Whether you’ve been through a tough patch, struggling financially, or just need a fresh start — this one’s for you.
Keep an eye on our Instagram for how to nominate someone or request a slot.
Let’s use Mental Health May to check in on one another, share support services, and spread kindness far and wide. Together, we’re stronger.
